Josh always lived in a different part of the country than we did, but we always felt he was part of us. When he was too young to speak, he loved us to read “The Three Little Pigs” and the part of “I’ll huff and puff and blow your house down, he communicated with us on the phone by saying, “Huff, Puff” and by doing so shared with us something special.
He shared other things as he grew up. Grandpa knows a lot about American history and Josh enjoyed learning from first-hand accounts and about the Purple Heart Grandpa earned as an infantry man in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.
We enjoyed his pleasure in discovering our collection of old vinyl one sided phonograph records. He shared with us some honey from the beehive he constructed and later some salt he removed from the sea. .
But his most mature and empathetic moments were when he visited us in Florida while I was receiving chemotherapy treatment for cancer. His interest and love were the ultimate sharing with us. How lucky we have been to have him in our lives. Come home soon Josh!
